We say

The blend of of Middle Eastern melancholy and cinematic electronica from Hiatus aka Cyrus Shahrad on his self-released debut album Ghost Notes, proves to be a captivating listen (check it out on Soundcloud). Hiatus mixes electronica with Middle Eastern laments, which he drew on after a trawl through his father’s record collection in Tehran. Among his fans are Bonobo, whom he has supported live. The video to this beautiful haunting album opener uses footage of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which outlawed many of the singers sampled on the album. Specialist support has come from Tom Robinson at 6Music and Eddy Temple-Morris at XFM who called it “A truly gorgeous album of uplifting electronica. This should be on Ninja Tune, selling by the thousands.”Online coverage has come from the Best of MySpace podcast and CMU Daily. Not only is the album worthy of investigation for compositions like this - it's also bursting with sync potential.
