21-year-old James Devlin started the year as toast of the tastemakers, with a place on BBC's Sound of 2010 poll. Already with a healthy underground fanbase, including a big online following, Island won the race to sign him. Playlisted 10 weeks upfront at 1Xtra, Brainwashed is already receiving heavy support from Westwood, Mistajam and Ras Kwame on their Radio 1 shows too. In addition it has been played by Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and the first daytime play from Fearne Cotton. The next single Runaway (ft. Yasmin) follows in October with more releases including the album, Bud, Sweat & Beers, out in January. It's a powerful debut which sets expectations high for the start of Devlin's 2011.
