We say
David Rotheray, best known for being the lead guitarist with The Beautiful South (and his critically-acclaimed acoustic side project Homespun), releases his first solo album The Life Of Birds in August. As well as Rotheray's considerable songwriting talents, it enlists the help of some of the UK’s finest folk singer-songwriters. Fellow north-easterner Eliza Carthy features to beautiful effect on this co-write with Eleanor McEvoy, who is another guest on the album, which makes fine use of some brilliant female vocalists. This ode to Rotheray's homesick friends who have 'migrated to London', is an example of the mature and heartfelt storytelling on a very enjoyable album. The first single, The Sparrow, The Thrush & The Nightingale, is released August 9.Contact
