Villagers is the brainchild of Conor J. O'Brien from Dublin. His distinctive voice, gripping lyrics and the intriguing melodies on this first single should be enough to win many of you over. This is the gorgeous title track from his album, out in May. We saw him play live in Dublin just after Villagers signed to Domino last year and were hugely impressed. Sean Adams of Drowned In Sound called the influences correctly afterwards when he noted that Villagers had 'Elbow's heart floating in a stew of Decemberists' song structures and Bright Eyes' lyrical twirls'. London dates, including Camden Crawl, and a host of Irish dates are planned. He makes his UK TV debut on the first in the new series of Later...with Jools Holland this week. JF
