We say
We kept coming back to this striking track from Tom Hickox after we first featured him back in February with Let Me Be Your Lover. The dark story of a human-trafficked girl spun out in a most unusual but touching manner, it's an unusual proposition but it works when done so well. With The Pretty Pride Of Russia Hickox has created, according to Dan Cairns who featured him in the Sunday Times as a Breaking Act, "a tableau that is at once droll and searingly poignant". Since our feature he has played Glastonbury, The Big Chill, recorded a Black Cab Session and finishes off a headline residency at The Enterprise in London this week. He might not be the easiest artist to place (not many get plays on BBC Radio 3, 4 and 6Music), but he's a difficult one to forget too. JF London gig: Thursday October 29 The Enterprise NW1Contact
