Ane Brun, the Norwegian-born singer-songwriter based in Sweden, provides the soundtrack of the Sky HD TV ad campaign at the moment. It's the latest in a long line of folkish covers to be synched to major campaigns, from Jose Gonzalez’s ‘Heartbeats’ to Wallis Bird's 'Just Can't Get Enough'. Brun's treatment of the Cyndi Lauper song (a Top20 hit here and a No1 in the US back in 1986), pushes her quirky style in the direction of the mainstream. It features on her next album 'Changing of the Seasons', produced by Valgeir Sigurdsson (Björk, Múm, Sigur Rós), which will be released in the UK on her own DetErMine Records on January 19. JF
