Winning Best Folk Singer at the 2008 Radio 2 Folk Awards, Julie Fowlis made good on her 2006 award for Best Emerging Artist. It's quite an achievement for someone singing in Scottish Gaelic, a language spoken by just 60,000 people. Her media profile to-date looks like an impressive list of TV and radio appearances, including Later With Jools Holland and R2 sessions. Her album 'Cuilidh' was released last year to widespread praise, including 4 and 5 star reviews in Time Out and The Guardian.
