We first heard Mark Bragg Band at the Hard Working Class Heroes event in Dublin last year and revisited him at Popkomm, so intrigued were we by his work. His self-released 2006 album Bear Music is full of raw, bluesy sketches like this. The live show is very entertaining indeed. His songs veer from White Stripes territory to Tom Waits via some fairly challenging lyrical set-ups, as illustrated by this rousing number. Strong alternative rock music with a tender edge.
