We'd love to know how many tracks producer Diplo and programmer/additional producer Wizard used on this record - we suspect you could count them on the fingers of two hands, and that's if you include the steal from Rocky. Perhaps that's one reason M.I.A.'s music has caused such a stir amongst critics and the industry - it is so much more sparse, direct and primal than everything else around (although her labelmates The White Stripes and Peaches both achieve something similar). Despite all that, next single Bucky Done Gun is unmistakeably hooky. An intriguing artist.
