Club Action

Yo Majesty

unsigned

WE SAY

This is an irresistible piece of new-wave hip-hop from Tampa-based female trio Yo Majesty. As one blogger succinctly put it, "they are not afraid to bring it back to when hip-hop was fun”. There are plenty of remixes of this storming club track available on various blogs. Our favourite is the Bag Raiders' Baltimore Edit (the 2nd track on their MySpace), which makes utterly genius use of a sample from Enya's 'Orinoco Flow'. Unsigned at present, we understand that label action in the UK is heating up. Currently recording with Basement Jaxx, they are touring with CSS and fellow Brazilians Bonde Do Role, they are also looking at some UK dates this summer. If reports of their live performances at SXSW are anything to go by, we suggest live bookers form an orderly queue. JF
