WILDES
WE SAY
WILDES is the moniker of London singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ella Walker. Sonically falling somewhere between Angel Olsen, St Vincent and PJ Harvey, her music has already impressed tastemakers at Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music, as well as Radio X and KCRW. Plus, praise has come from Consequence, The Line Of Best Fit, Notion, Clash and DIY, to name just a few. This has all added up to her amassing over 60m combined streams and the attention of Danger Mouse, who became her publisher, and led to over 20 notable syncs on US TV shows like Suits, Scream and The Royals. Not bad for an artist who is yet to release her debut LP. Produced by St Francis Hotel (Michael Kiwanuka, Little Simz), Woman In Love is her first track to be heard since her 2020 EP Let You Go, and oh boy, it’s good, very good. Released yesterday, this enchanting slice of foot-stomping Americana inspired folk-pop is sure to woo DSPs for additions to folk/alternative playlists, as well as new release programming this Friday. Tonight (6 April), WILDES will be playing the West Hampstead Arts Club in London.
