‘Straitjacket’ is the infectious '90s-tinged indie banger from West Yorkshire’s Wax-Tree-Cast. Having formed in Halifax in 2020 by Oolagh Hodgson (bass, vocals) and Blair Murray (guitars), the indie duo have been honing their craft by releasing a handful of singles. Now ready to release their debut EP, ‘Entanglements To Affairs Part 1’ next month, Wax-Tree-Cast dropped this indie affair, with hints of Achtung Baby era U2 guitars shimmering in the background, yesterday (13 August). Tackling themes of fascination and infatuation, ‘Straightjacket’ is one of those tracks perfect for those who like their guitars front and centre with soaring vocals. Deserving of spins at 6 Music, Radio X, Virgin Radio and specialist shows at Radio 1, the track would also be perfect for indie and new release programming at DSPs. No London shows as yet, but for those of you up north, they will be playing Hebden Bridge's Trades Club on 12 October.
