WE SAY
Last year, we introduced you to Volleyball - an Irish electronic music duo and creative brand founded by artists Christian Tierney and Duigy. Now based in London, the two artists first met over five years ago while touring as photographers with some of the biggest artists, including Rihanna, Niall Horan, Hailee Steinfeld, and shooting covers for Rolling Stone. Having bonded over a mutual love and taste in music, art and fashion, when the pandemic struck, they decided to focus and work on music together. Released today (16 June), ‘Lost’ is a dark and clubby anthem that samples and loops hypnotically the vocals of an unreleased demo of the same name from singer-songwriter and RotD-featured Alex Tierney. The result is an emotional rollercoaster from introspection to euphoria through a landscape of high-flying gated synths brought back down to earth by raw drums and aggressive, arpeggiated bass. It’s big and one hell of a way to start the weekend off or finish depending on how it went. It's perfect for dark, clubby dance and electronic playlists at DSPs, as well as spins on dance specialist's shows on Radio 1, Kiss and Capital. This summer, the duo will be performing at festivals in Ireland, including Seas Sessions, Indiependence and All Together Now, having previously played Electric Picnic and Longitude.
