Pity Party
VICTORIA
WE SAY
Hauntingly melancholic and striking from the very first play, this from Bulgarian singer and songwriter VICTORIA is a dark pop gem. The first thing that hits you is her remarkable voice; beautifully engaging with a hushed conversational vocal that blossoms into a gorgeous ethereal vocal. Backed by an eerie piano melody, soft electronic flourishes and soaring harmonies, ‘Pity Party’ is an authentic, intimate and deeply emotional alt-pop song. Released yesterday (27 January), the track is perfect for sad pop and mood playlists while also deserving spots in new release programming, with potential for early spins on specialist shows at Radio 1. VICTORIA first gained prominence on X Factor Bulgaria and later represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020 and 2021. Since then, she has launched her debut EP, "a little dramatic," along with a series of compelling singles. Last year, a shift to a more alternative sonic direction and exploration of darker lyrical themes helped her amass over 15m combined streams and draw new praise. 2025 looks set to continue that exploration and with a bold new visual, which can be seen in her new video for ‘Pity Party’ here, VICTORIA is an artist we think you should keep on your radar.
