Continuing our Ones To Watch 2025 is Ugandan-born, Newcastle-raised artist Victor Ray. The 25-year-old has had a remarkable year for his tender and soulful music that has seen him play a sold-out show at Koko in November, amass over 100m streams on Spotify alone, agree a global ambassadorship for Karl Lagerfeld and release two BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra supported EPs. We’ve been keeping tabs on him since he impressed us in 2023 with the gorgeous ‘It Only Cost Everything’, and since then, he has received praise from Wonderland (Autumn cover star), The Observer, Sunday Times, Culture, BET, Clash, MTV and The Line of Best Fit, to name just a few, while Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music have all featured him across editorial playlists. Last month, he released this number featuring seamlessly poignant bars from Kojey Radical and Strandz. Following this, Victor was named BBC Radio 1 Future Artist of the Month for December and was nominated for MTV Push UK & IRE 2025. With the fourth and final EP in his ‘I AM’ series to be released in March, Victor’s mix of classic soul and contemporary R&B laced with emotional honesty is something we highly recommend. We believe 2025 is set to be a massive year for this talented artist.
