WE SAY

We first featured the woozy, electronic neo-soul sounds of London-based artist Jack Mercer, aka VC Pines, in February 2021 and more recently at the start of this year.  Having picked up tremendous radio support from BBC Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders), BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio 2 (Jo Whiley), BBC Radio London, Radio X (John Kennedy), BBC Introducing (Jess Izsatt) and Absolute Radio (Danielle Perry), along with editorial support at DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon Music), he made his debut Glastonbury performance over the weekend at The Greenpeace stage on Thursday, before playing a number of smaller sets across the festival, including a BBC live performance of this rather cool gem. Co-written with Ross MacDonald (The 1975) and songwriter/producer Ed Thomas, ‘Colours’ is taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘MRI’, out on 8 September. To support the album release, VC Pines will be heading on a UK headline tour following a summer of festival appearances. Further tastemaker support has come from Clash, The Line of Best Fit, DIY Mag, Dork, So Young, Wonderland and more. We love the hazy and soulful vibes of his sound, and can’t wait to hear his debut album.
