With sweeping strings, a haunting piano melody and the gorgeous vocals of RotD-favourite Freya Ridings, ‘Ethereal’ is the intoxicating new collab from Txmy. Originally a contemporary classical instrumental posted by the 16 year old Oslo-born Norwegian producer and composer Thomas Ecklo Brevik, aka Txmy, last year, the track became a viral hit. It has since amassed over 900k creations on TikTok, 40+m Spotify streams, 500k Shazams and millions of streams across YouTube and SoundCloud. Released last month, the new version sees the fragile, husky vocals of Freya effortlessly accompany the graceful cinematic score as she explores the themes of love lyrically. It’s a perfect match that has quickly seen support across DSPs with additions to editorial playlists at Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, SoundCloud and Deezer. Packed full of emotion, musically and lyrically, it is one of those tracks that we can see easily being picked up for sync opportunities on TV/film, as well as for perfume/luxury label brands for campaigns. Much like the compositions of Max Richter and Ryuichi Sakamoto, this is a beautiful piece by a young and promising talent and is only heightened by the lush vocals of Freya Ridings.
