Cut The Cloth, Didn’t I
Tonia
WE SAY
Just over two years ago, we introduced you to rising alt-pop artist Tonia through her neo-soul-tinged ‘Afloat’. Having made a name for herself on Liverpool’s bustling music scene and a string of single releases that have earned her praise from Radio 1 specialists Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Gemma Bradley and Maia Beth, Tonia was awarded the PPL Momentum Fund last year. Now ready to build on previous tastemaker support from Spotify, Apple Music, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, the Independent, Dummy, and more, Tonia dropped the stirringly soulful track, ‘Cut The Cloth, Didn’t I’, yesterday (19 March). Produced by her London-based friend and collaborator Sfven, the song is a warm and uplifting alt-pop ode, infused with fuzzy electronics and delicate harp motifs - perfect for new release programming and alt-pop playlists at DSPs. With past performances at Kendal Calling, Dot To Dot Festival and The Cavern Club, Tonia is set to play at this year’s BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Liverpool Sound City.
