We are massive fans of Tom Walker here at RotD, having previously named his sublime single Leave A Light On as our 2017 Record of the Year in January. The track has so far sold over 1.8m copies worldwide, been streamed 350m times, featured in the top 10 in 41 countries, achieved platinum status in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy (x2), and helped him become the biggest breakout UK global star of 2018. His gorgeous follow up, Angels, produced by Mike Spencer (Years & Years), is a beautiful piano-based number with luscious string arrangements that allows Tom’s powerful vocals to connect at a deep emotional level with the listener. Tastemaker support has already come from streaming services with additions to 24 Spotify New Music Friday playlists, Hot Hits UK and Apple’s Best of the Week, plus sessions are booked in for Radio 1 (Live Lounge) and Radio 2 (Jo Whiley & Simon Mayo) in October for the release of his debut album, What A Time To Be Alive. Yesterday, Tom performed a showcase at Spiritland in London and will return to the city in October for a sold out show at O2 Shepherds Bush. Angels is another top quality single from the Glasgow-born artist that will surely secure him another big hit and find a home on radio stations everywhere. Quite simply, breathtaking.
