Now You’re Gone
Tom Walker feat. Zara Larsson
WE SAY
With a BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act and a nomination for British Single, as well as an ASCAP Vanguard Award to his name, it’s safe to say the last year has been hugely successful for Glasgow-born singer-songwriter and RotD favourite Tom Walker. Having first tipped him back in October 2017 with his beautifully emotional piano-led single Leave A Light On, it’s been a pleasure to see his meteoric rise, achieved through relentless touring and a talent to craft brilliantly endearing songs. Last Friday (1 March) he released his debut album What A Time To Be Alive, which was No.1 on Amazon before its release and topped the iTunes pre-order chart for a month. The album opens with the moving and gospel-tinged Angels, followed by our aforementioned RotD and the upbeat track, Not Giving In. It’s a tremendous opening trio of tracks and throughout the album, there are many gems including Blessings (where the album title comes from), new wedding favourite Just You And I and this clubby R&B-inspired pop number with Zara Larsson. In What A Time To Be Alive Tom has produced a positive and touching album that will find a home in anyone’s collection with tracks destined to be featured across steaming playlists for years to come. Next month, fans will be able to hear tracks from the album live as he kicks off a sold-out 8 date tour of the UK, including a show at the Roundhouse on 1 May, before heading off to tour Europe.
