Half The Man
To Be Frank
Church Cottage / Solebay Music
WE SAY
Among the more gratifying of this year's trends has been the blurring of lines between guitar-wielding singer-songwriter and knob-twiddling producer, with the emergence of a new breed of artist - SOHN and Rhye among them - making genuinely affecting electronic music. Add to that list Frank Pescod, aka To Be Frank, balancing exquisite electronica with tender, heartfelt songwriting that's drawing praise from Artrocker to the Sunday Mirror. Radio support from Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Lauren Laverne and Zane Lowe among others saw previous track If You Love Her being added to the Radio 1 playlist by BBC Introducing, on whose stage To Be Frank also appeared at Reading & Leeds. (Interestingly his first four shows were all major festivals and he's already confirmed for SXSW in 2014.) New track Half The Man, featured here, was a Next Hype for Zane Lowe and comes accompanied, so we're told, by the world's first infra-red music video, a soothing fix of eye-candy that picked up 100k plays in its first three days online. Definitely one for the end-of-year Ones To Watch lists.
