Pass Out
Tinie Tempah
WE SAY
RotD Staff Picks 2010 - Record of the Year: Chosen by by contributing editor David Balfour, strategist James Barton and music editor James Foley / First featured: 19 January 2010:
JB: 'Edgy and inventive, yet classy and littered with huge pop hooks, Pass Out was a deserved No 1. Fantastic follow-up single Written In The Stars and his phenomenal album sales cemented Tinie’s status as 2010’s most exciting new artist.'
DB: '..for me there’s no mistaking that this was the record of the year. The production on this track was mind-blowing, the lyrics were conversation starters, whilst there was an amazing groove. It also marked something like a coming of age for UK urban music, which somehow finally seemed to find confidence in its identity in 2010, producing amazing pop hits without cashing in its credibility. The track sets a standard for all to aspire to.'
JF: 'A track we first featured in January was also one that stuck around all year, and one we never tire of hearing. We’re sure that Pass Out will be the track of 2010 for many, and we hope that artists like Tinie Tempah continue to break in such style.'
