Youth Is Wasted
Tilly Kingston
WE SAY
Growing up above the Feathers music venue in Lichfield with her ’60s and ’70s loving dad and punk and emo obsessed brother, it’s no surprise that Tilly Kingston was drawn to music from a young age. Having begun to learn to sing at six before entering ‘Battle of the Bands’ at school before she was a teenager, Tilly was spotted performing at her home from home, Feathers, by multi-platinum producer Mike Krompass who signed her up to his newly formed label Base Culture Music Group. Influenced by Paramore, Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly, the 18 year old released her debut single, ‘Best Break Up Ever’, last year, which has gained over 1.4m YouTube views and 100k streams, alongside support at BBC Introducing. Today (2 February), Tilly has released her follow up, this infectious blast of effervescent pop-punk. Recalling those noughties pop-punk guitar riffs and full of youthful exuberance, ‘Youth Is Wasted’ is a flashback to the past but also with an eye to the future. Expect to see this feature across Pop Punk/Rock playlists at DSPs. Rock Sound, Kerrang! and Punktastic are admirers with coverage planned for this week and next week, the single will be going to North American radio. Watch the video here. One to watch.
