WE SAY
We can't work out whether the whooshing sound at the beginning of Thumpers' new single is someone blowing up a balloon or inhaling from one. Either way Sound of Screams shouts 'party' from the off, its bouncing beats, effervescing synths and giddying harmonies delivering like a head full of helium on a stomach full of vodka jelly. Marcus Pepperell and John Hamson Jr. have had quite a summer, cramming in fifteen festival appearances, sessions for Huw Stephens and Lauren Laverne, and a BBC Introducing playlist addition for their excellent last single Unkinder (A Tougher Love). Having just announced a deal with Sub Pop in the US, they support Everything Everything later this month before joining Chvrches on their UK and European tour. Just as long as there are party bags.
