Aeroplanes
The Silent League
WE SAY
Taken from The Silent League's second album, Of Stars And Other Somebodies, the follow-up to 2005's acclaimed, The Orchestra, Sadly, Has Refused, the New Yorkers (fronted by Justin Russo, formerly of Mercury Rev) have really come up with the goods here. Intricately composed, majestic and melodic, we hope that Aeroplanes sticks at radio - early support has come from John Kennedy at XFM and Gideon Coe at 6Music, but Radio 2 especially should play this. Like a lot of the new album it has the slow-building touches that make Arcade Fire so engrossing but it's also spliced with the pop appeal of Pulp in their heyday. They will tour the UK in July including dates at Fflam Festival and Latitude. JF London gig: 8 July, Cargo EC2
