Belong
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Play It Again Sam/Fortuna Pop!
WE SAY
Belong, the title track from The Pains of Being Pure Heart's forthcoming second album – which is their first for Play It Again Sam across Europe – heralds a welcome return for the Brooklyn band. Produced by Flood and mixed by Alan Moulder, it is, predictably, a bigger sound than their first outing. Belong lifts them to the next level from their 'slyly confident debut' (Pitchfork) with convincing swagger on songs like this. As expected, there has been good early support from NME Q, Artrocker, Clash & The Fly. Radio support for the first single, Heart In Your Heartbreak, came from Zane Lowe, and was B-listed by 6Music. A European tour is set for March.
London gig: March 3, KCLSU WC2
