The Other End
WE SAY
We last featured Norwegian duo, The Other End, back at the start of 2018 with their chillingly beautiful debut track Far From Home. Since then, the duo have, off the back of our feature, signed a publishing deal with Ninja Tune’s Just Isn’t Music, released a debut EP and have performed at Øya Festival and SXSW. In 2019, they moved to Berlin to write their debut album and then moved back to Norway in 2021, where they wrote this gorgeous, sun dappled Americana-infused gem. Written on a dusty old Dobro in the district of Nordnes in Bergen, California Dreamer is a love letter to the Laurel Canyon scene in the ’60s and ’70s. It’s a beautiful number that is only heightened by vocalist Ida Knoph-Solholm's haunting vocals. Taken from their forthcoming debut album, The Sun Will Do You Good, They Said, out in May, the track is perfect for additions to mellow indie playlists at DSPs and deserves spins on BBC 6 Music and specialist shows on Radio 1. With tastemaker support from NPR and online blogs like High Clouds, Mp3Hugger, as well as at home in Norway from radio station NRK P3, expect to see more tastemaker show support in the coming weeks. All in all, this is a stunning track deserving of your attention.
