The Old Pink House
WE SAY
Newcastle-based four-piece The Old Pink House are a bunch of mates who share the enthusiasm of frontman Christopher Brown for pop with a modern psychedelic twist, and came together after he'd initially started making recordings in his bedroom. Retro influences from the glam era, including thumping rolling drum patterns, crunchy guitar licks and synths laced with reverb, are all evident here on the follow-up to debut release So Bad, which picked up plays from Phil Taggart at Radio 1 and got the band noticed by DIY, Clash and The Tipping Point too. Having supported The Amazons, The Sherlocks and fellow Tyneside-based lads The Pale White, they recently played a sold-out debut headline show in Newcastle and have their biggest gig yet this Saturday (August 5) supporting Manic Street Preachers at the city’s Live At Times Square festival. With Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival and Glasgow’s Tenement Trail lined up, they’ll be honing their energetic live show, which is already getting a word-of-mouth buzz. This confident, catchy anthem is an absolutely cracking single.
