Nothing On You
The Modern Strangers
WE SAY
Back in October last year we featured The Modern Strangers who later tonight (10.45pm) will be performing at The Hope & Ruin, and are our final recommendation for this year’s Great Escape Festival. Since our feature, the band, fronted by brothers Max and Archie Davenport, have signed to BMG Publishing, wowed crowds at the NME awards and are about to release their debut EP, Meltdown Mechanics, at the start of June. The brothers have a seriously healthy knack of writing joyously infectious blasts of indie electronic pop that bring a smile to your face. Their latest single, Nothing On You, is a jaunty little earworm that recalls the quirky nature of Gorillaz, the groove-infused beats of Jungle and the pop sensibilities of the Scissor Sisters. Tipped by the likes of the Line of Best Fit, Clash, Metro, and Indie Shuffle among others, the Modern Strangers have also garnered support at Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), 6 Music, and Radio X, as well as featured on Spotify’s curated playlists and the Viral 50. With a plethora of instantly accessible and upbeat singles behind them, tonight’s show is set to provide feel-good vibes into the early hours of Saturday.
