The Lumineers
WE SAY
Back in August 2012, we first featured The Lumineers with a little song called Ho Hey. We’d spotted it blowing up in the US, ahead of their UK debut gig in Hoxton. Little did we know what would happen next. It went on to spend a staggering 50 weeks inside the UK Top 75. So anticipation is high for their latest album Cleopatra, due next month. The video for this first single generated more than a million views in a week, and now has hit more than three million in total. A secret show for fans at London’s Bush Hall last month sold out in under an hour, and they’ll be back here for some major TV and radio promo. There’s a headline gig at Brixton Academy too on April 23 as part of a full UK tour that sold out in a day. This latest track is a brand new sing-along anthem to add to their canon, driven along by a playful piano-led melody that is guaranteed to have an entire audience on their feet and singing their heads off. To date their music has notched up more than two billion streams worldwide. Barack Obama is a fan and if you’re not already, prepare to be won over with this future favourite.
