Nobody Taught Me
The Lazy Eyes
WE SAY
Our final recommendation for you to watch at The Great Escape Online is Australian neo-pysche four-piece The Lazy Eyes. Performing tonight at 19.38 on stage 7, the Sydney-based group started to make music together at high school when they were just sixteen and have since built a cult-like national following in their homeland with sold-out shows. Their music, which combines elements of prog, psyche, indie and rock, has amassed over 2.5m combined streams to date and drawn praise from a plethora of tastemakers, including the Independent, Clash, the Line of Best Fit, DIY, i-D, NME and more. Radio support has come from Radio 1 (Jack Saunders), 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson, Chris Hawkins), Radio X (John Kennedy) and Apple Music (Matt Wilkinson). With numerous additions to editorial playlists at Spotify and Apple Music, the now 20 year olds have made a serious impression on tastemakers, and it’s easy to see why. Take their latest release - Nobody Taught Me - it’s instantly engaging and draws you in with its blissfully melancholic opening and nostalgic feels. So be prepared to be washed away amidst hedonistic soundscapes, modern psyche tendencies a la Tame Impala and glorious songwriting.
