Hey Merry Christmas
The Heathen And The Holy
WE SAY
The Heathen And The Holy is a fabulous little one-off side project from Tom Hobden and Fred Abbott, two band members of Noah & The Whale. With all the traditional hallmarks of a great Christmas tune, the lads give it lashings of their group’s distinctive trademark folky sound before it turns into a full-on festive anthem that reminds us a lot of the legendary Tom Petty, complete with bells and a chorister from Westminster Cathedral School. The video that accompanies it was funded by their own Indiegogo campaign, then made in collaboration with students, friends and family linked to the National Film and Television School with director Daniel Montanarini and it features more of the band alongside King Charles. There’s been a noticeable lack of noteworthy new seasonal tunes this year, we reckon, so this last-minute gem (which is released next week) absolutely deserves your attention, not just because of the time of year but because it’s a cracking track too.
