What A Girl Goes Through
The Genie Queen
WE SAY
We like Peter Robinson's Popjustice site. It's witty, and it's cheerleading for pop at a time when practically no-one else is. For example, their new look site will include a Popjustice Singles Club - free mp3 downloads for registered readers - about which they say "It's pop! It's free! It positively reeks of 'we haven't thought this through'!". The Genie Queen are a three piece from Andy McCluskey's stable. Monica's Don't Take It Personal is one of the great pop R&B records. Here's it's combined to great effect with Souvenir by Andy's former band OMD. Download the full mp3 here. Incidentally, it seems the UK press has room for a loan voice championing a maligned genre - Pete must be the busiest music journalist in Britain, with constant comissions across a range of newspapers and mags.
