The Coronas
WE SAY
They may be absent from the Sound of 2015 long list but we’re pretty sure that The Coronas will end 2015 firmly established as one of the great breakthrough acts of next year here in the UK. Already huge stars in their native Ireland, they’ve racked up three double-platinum albums there and the latest The Long Way debuted at no.2 on the chart this week. They’ve supported superstars like Sir Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, The Script and P!nk, sold out Dublin’s biggest venues The O2 and Olympia Theatre and have now announced an eleven date UK headline tour which includes a date at Camden’s Koko on April 1. Charismatic frontman Danny O’Reilly is already established as a colourful character with the tabloids since he and the rest of the band moved to London. Expect his profile to grow even further, thank to this solid indie pop track that’s both radio-friendly and designed to rock a stadium or festival stage next summer. Solid songwriting combined with a cracking melody, stacked with layer upon layer of hooks. Massive.
