Chasing The Tail Of A Dream
The Coral
WE SAY
With a taster of the delights on the way from the forthcoming album Distance Inbetween, this swampy stomper from The Coral sets things up perfectly. It’s their first collection of all-new material for more than five years, and this first track from it was recorded live in the studio (as was the entire 12-track album) at Liverpool’s Parr Street. Doors-esque keyboards, a blistering guitar riff, one driving bassline and crunching drum beats underpin that distinctive voice of singer James Skelly, all heralding a blistering return. This track is currently sitting on the B list at 6Music as well as on the Radio X evening playlist and it was Geoff Lloyd’s Record of the Week on his Absolute Radio drivetime show last week. The band play a nine-date UK tour through March culminating with a London date, before heading off around Europe and returning to headline Liverpool’s Sound City festival on May 29. It’s great to have them back, especially when they sound as pumped up and as invigorated as they do here.
