Brave New World
The Blinders
WE SAY
With its first radio play on Steve Lamacq’s 6 Music show last night (25 July), Brave New World by Manchester-based alt-rock trio The Blinders is another blistering attack to the senses. This anthemic number, powered by chugging guitar riffs and a steady beat, gloriously descends into chaos in the final third as the witty and satirical lyrics turn to anger and discontent at today’s political climate. We last featured the band back in June with L’etat C’est Moi, a track which picked up impressive support across radio with a 6 Music C List playlist spot alongside backing from Huw Stephens, Dan P Carter, Annie Mac and Phil Taggart at Radio 1, plus plays on John Kennedy (Radio X) and Danielle Perry (Absolute). Like L’etat C’est Moi, the track is taken from their forthcoming debut album Columbia (out September) and is set to garner praise from Louder Than War and Classic Rock in the coming days. The band will be playing Kendall Calling this weekend, as well as a number of UK festivals this summer before heading out on a 22-date headline tour of the UK in support of their album. Young, brash and exciting, The Blinders are a band on a mission to wake up a nation.
