Tear It Down
The Aston Shuffle
Independent/EMI (Australia) / Just Music (South Africa) / Independent/AWAL (RoW)
WE SAY
Depressing as it is even to hear the words 'summer' and 'anthem' in such close proximity at this time of year in the northern hemisphere, that's precisely what RotD favourites The Aston Shuffle appear to have on their hands again - in Australia. In actual fact new track Tear It Down, the second single from their second album, was written and recorded in the depths of a London winter with long-time collaborator Stylz Fuego and Amanda Ghost (Florence + The Machine, Beyonce, Scissor Sisters). Another feel-good house jam with Rhodes chords and a soulful vocal, Tear It Down went no. 3 on Hype Machine and last week became Triple J's second most-played track, with online love coming from Digital Spy, Dancing Astronaut, Earmilk, Hilly Dilly and beyond. A David Cronenberg-esque video directed by Prad Senanayake, for those of you that go in for hyper-sexualised Greek mythology in a modern setting, is worth a peak.
