Love Story
Taylor Swift
WE SAY
The biggest-selling artist of 2008 in the US, 19 year-old Taylor Swift sold more than 1m copies of her album Fearless in the first three weeks and sales are now at 2.2m. Her eponymous debut album has sold 3.5m and last year she had six Billboard Top 20 debut hits, including Love Story which has just gone to radio in the UK. Her MySpace activity is through the roof with 125m streams, indeed Observer Music Monthly is justified in calling Swift 'the first bona fide country star of the MySpace generation'. Universal will be hoping that her polished country pop connects with a UK audience, as well as it did Stateside when her album is released this Spring. JF
