Born and raised in the Midlands, Taura Lamb moved to south London to study music at Goldsmiths University, where she discovered her affinity for music production. After being unable to sing for nine months, Taura decided to produce and work on her debut EP, Lucky Girls. She dropped the smooth pop/R&B sound EP at the start of 2020, which quickly racked up half a million streams, and then the pandemic struck. Not perturbed by the situation, she decided to develop her sound and produce an album’s worth of new material, which she has been releasing as singles every month this year. Her latest release is this slice of upbeat and heartfelt R&B pop with a hint of melancholy in its lyrics. With its funky vibe, New Normal is tailor-made for dancefloors and has caught the attention of the Line of Best Fit and pop star Joe Jonas. Further tastemaker praise has come from Earmilk, Notion, Noctis and Equate, along with editorial playlist support at Spotify (Your Kitchen Stereo, Nightcap and dazed). One to watch.
