Last Song
Tamzene
WE SAY
Growing up in the coastal town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands, Tamzene spent her formative years immersed in the sounds of Nina Simone and Roberta Flack while she learned to play the violin. At 14, she picked up a guitar and started to write her own songs, drawing inspiration from her early influences and over time, contemporary artists like Birdy, Solange and James Bay. Having burst onto the scene last year with the gorgeous debut Lullaby, the Leeds-based multi-instrumentalist was chosen by PRS/Festival Republic as one of their ReBalance artists for 2018 and last Friday (14 December) released this sumptuous dose of modern soul with a distinctive pop edge. Featuring on eight Spotify New Music Friday playlists, Last Song is a big, bold statement of intent, fueled by a pounding beat, lush piano melodies and her sweet soulful vocals. It’s expertly crafted with delicious hooks and a radio friendly sound perfect for Radio 1 and 2, as well as commercial radio and those important mood and genre streaming playlists. Bursting with potential and talent, Tamzene has it all to challenge Adele for her soul pop crown. Yes, she’s that good.
