Channelling piano-pop heroes such as Todd Rundgren and Elton John, the Vaccines’ keyboardist Timothy Lanham neatly bridges the gap between ’70s pop rock and modern indie in his new solo project and alter ego T Truman. Uniting irresistible pop songwriting with playfully ostentatious orchestration, new single Rock ‘n’ Roll sees T Truman in a wistful mood as he sings about a bygone era. Led by stirring piano chords and a chugging percussion this synth-laden retro-pop gem was co-written and co-produced by friend and long-term collaborator Geoff Roberts. Since its release earlier this week, the track has picked up early online tastemaker support from the likes of the NME, the Line of Best Fit, DIY Mag, and Gigwise among others.
