King City
Swim Deep
WE SAY
A cursory glance at their endless glowing press will confirm that kings of B-Town Swim Deep appear to have a monopoly on 'the sound of summer' - doubly impressive considering summer has been almost entirely absent in the year since King City was first released. And what a year it has been: three singles each building on the last, extensive touring including sold out shows at London's Village Underground and Birmingham's The Institute, as well as playlist additions at 6Music and Radio 1, where fans include Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart & Alice Levine. Returning with a glossy new version of the single that started it all, King City has picked up plays in all the usual places, plus a Big Thing from Phil & Alice this week. A sunny, Georgia Hudson-directed video went live on Monday, while the band step up the touring during September with their biggest shows to date. All bodes well for forthcoming album Where The Heaven Are We, due August 5.
London gig: Shepherd's Bush Empire, September 27.
