WE SAY
This tender yet euphoric ode from Norwegian alt-pop artist Sval is a track that has seriously impressed us with its shimmering pop production and heartfelt lyrics. Co-written with regular collaborator Jimi Somewhere, Angela is a song about falling in love but not having enough time to make it work. With online tastemaker support across the Nordic region and at DSPs, the track has also featured on the influential Spotify indie editorial playlist Lorem in the US. With a sound perfect for UK radio, we reckon it also deserves spins at 6 Music and specialist shows on Radio 1. Inspired by the intricate storytelling nature of Frank Ocean and Lykke Li, Sval’s new work is less polished, more off-centre than what’s come before, and marks a turning point for the 24 year old after a decade in the industry. With more music to come in 2023, we shall be keeping an eye on this talented artist and we recommend you should too.
