Summer Heart
WE SAY
Wonderfully lo-fi but with an incredible melody that shines right through the track, Summer Heart is actually just one bloke called David Alexander, who started this project back in 2009. The Swedish-born producer and songwriter conjures up such a beautiful vibe here: a hint of what MGMT gave us with their first album, combined with the instant feeling of being transported to a warm, sunny place that you get when you hear a band like The Beach Boys at their most brilliant. With more than half a million plays on Soundcloud for his tracks over the past 12 months (all without any major label backing), it's clear that there's a lot going on here that's appealing to a very wide audience. We can look forward to some promised live dates this summer across Europe, which should be intriguing. Like a great song you heard on the radio in the 1980s that still makes you smile when you hear it all these years later, Summer Heart's music stirs up almost child-like emotions of innocence and simpler times. Now that's both rare and reassuring in 2014.
