Miss You
southstar
WE SAY
Rising artist and producer southstar has been creating waves across the dance scene with this fresh take on Oliver Tree’s 2020 track, Jerk. He first dropped Miss You back on 9 May before it spread like wildfire in Germany’s music scene and has since been re-released via B1/Ministry of Sound on 30 July and has continued to grow in popularity with music fans across the globe. Having hit No.13 in the German charts in September, now with over 45m worldwide streams, the track continues to fly up streaming charts in some 29 territories and has rocketed into the UK Charts landing at No.23. The dancefloor gem has attracted the attention and support of key tastemakers – with Radio 1’s Pete Tong spinning it since early September, and more recently the likes of Danny Howard, Charlie Hedges, Clara Amfo, Adele Roberts, Rickie, Melvin & Charlie and Matt & Mollie showing their support on Radio 1, along with Capital Dance, Kiss Dance and Kiss FM. Deserving to be featured on mainstream radio playlists here in the UK, southstar’s rework is facing competition from Robin Schulz, who has released a similar version under the same name with the same sample and production in August, after having played southstar’s version in his own DJ sets in July. Robin’s version is now also flying in the UK charts. Personally, we think that southstar should be proud of his creation and gain the credit and support he deserves.
