Why You Trying Not To Love Me
Sophia Amato
WE SAY
Back in the summer, we introduced you to the London-based singer-songwriter Sophia Amato and her hypnotic and brooding debut Glorious Mess. The lo-fi electronica and jazzy tones picked up early support across online blogs, including When The Horn Blows, Alfitiude and Reignland, while also receiving radio support at Amazing Radio, Hoxton Radio and the Student Radio Network. Since then she has been in the studio (and still is) working with writers and producers like Bastian (Jess Glynne, Jessie Ware), Lapsley, Karma Kid (aka Shy Luv), Dan Caplen (Clean Bandit, Macklemore) and John Foyle (FKA Twigs). This luscious offering, released today (19 November), is her follow up and what a stunning one it is too. Incorporating her signature neo-soul and jazz elements with some rich and shimmering production from co-writer and producer Karl Zine, Why You Trying Not To Love Me effortlessly showcases Amato’s beautiful and emotive vocals that in our opinion deserves more widespread recognition across soulful streaming playlists and plays on national radio. In short, if Sophia Amato is not on your radar yet, we wholly recommend that she should be.
