Premiered as Clara Amfo’s ‘World’s Hottest Record’ on Radio 1 last Thursday, ‘Wide Awake’ is the latest tune from independent Reading-based rapper Songer. With its sharp, bouncy vibe, dynamic overtones and punchy 808s, the song featured on Spotify UK’s New Music Friday playlist, in NME and Telegraph's 'Best New Tracks' playlists, and has since been praised by GRM Daily, Wonderland, Wordplay and more. Taken from his forthcoming mixtape, ‘The Price Of Therapy’, the track follows the chart success of ‘Toxic (Freestyle)’, which hit 29 on the UK charts. Next month, he heads out on his biggest tour to date across the UK, culminating in a show at O2 Kentish Forum on 13 April before a series of festival appearances this summer. Top stuff.
