Quickly hooking us in with its fuzzed-up riffs, pulsating synth-based infectiousness, and sultry goth tendencies is the brilliant new single, ‘What Kinda Love’, from Sohodolls. Released yesterday (29 February) and produced by Otabek Salamov (aka Needshees), Maya Von Doll co-wrote the track with Future Cut (Lily Allen, Rihanna, Shakira) when she was in a bad place and explores the power of imagination. Powered by an almost Muse-esque groove with slinky hints of Goldfrapp, we can easily hear this being picked up for spins at 6 Music and Radio 1, along with additions to rock/alternative contextual playlists at DSPs. Having caught the attention of Gen Z glitterati during lockdown on TikTok with the single ‘Bang Bang Bang Bang’, which has since amassed over 200m streams, Sohodolls are back with an energetic and addictive statement of intent.
