Bad Machine
Soda Blonde
WE SAY
We quickly fell in love with this angular dose of alt-pop from Dublin band Soda Blonde when we heard its first play on BBC 6 Music’s New Music Fix show with Deb Grant & Tom Ravenscroft earlier this month. Since then, ‘Bad Machine’ has been added to Amazing Radio’s C list, and last Friday (14 July), this catchy and decidedly cool lead single from their forthcoming second album, ‘Dream Big’, was released to the masses. With euphoric sonic elements akin to The Knife/iamamiwhoami mixed with a dirty beat, the track featured on Spotify UK's New Music Friday playlist and has received online praise from Wonderland, The Honey Pop, Nialler 9 and more. It’s a stonking introduction to their new collection of catchy and cathartic pop songs. Having received an Album of the Year nomination for RTÉ’s Choice Music Prize in 2021 for their debut album ‘Small Talk’, and tastemaker praise from Paste, The Irish Times, Hot Press, Atwood Magazine and more, Soda Blonde looks set to gain more plaudits from this early taster. Cool, addictive and sonically impressive.
