Sock Drawer
WE SAY
Back in the autumn of 2023, we introduced you to boy/girl duo Sock Drawer on their debut single remix of ‘Serious Tune’ by Shadow Child. Influenced by the XX, Gorillaz, Sylvan Esso and MGMT, the Brighton-based duo have a series of singles, which have seen them tipped as Eat Your Own Ears 'One To Watch 2025', featured on Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Sunday Brunch, Amazing Radio, Fresh On The Net and multiple playlist additions at Apple Music (Alt Pop, NMD, New in Alt). Released last week, ‘Tokyo’ sees the duo hone in on their influences with a fun and quirky indie-pop number, full of offbeat hooks and shimmering synths. It’s one of those tunes that you can hear being picked up for sync on TV adverts or streaming service TV series, as well as, of course, spins at Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio X and alt-pop playlists at DSPs. Having headlined Glastonbury’s Hive Stage last year, there are no plans yet for further live shows as they are currently co-producing their debut album with producer James Dring (Gorillaz, Jamie T, Blur), which is set to be released later this year. If you haven’t heard of Sock Drawer yet, we highly recommend you check out ‘Toyko’. We are sure it will put a smile on your face.
